Born in Shallotte, North Carolina, he became a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and went on to win 13 PBA Tour titles, including the 1987 PBA National Championship, his only major title. He later became a familiar voice on bowling telecasts, serving as the full-time color analyst for PBA Tour broadcasts on ESPN, Fox and CBS Sports Network from 2001 to 2025 and working on webcasts for PBA Xtra Frame, FloBowling and the BowlTV YouTube channel.

A native of Southern California, he moved to Clermont, Florida, in the early 1990s and lived there thereafter.
