Qamar Ahmed, a Pakistani cricketer and journalist, died on June 18, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on October 23, 1937, in Uttar Pradesh, he went on to represent Sindh and Hyderabad in first-class cricket and later became known for his work as a cricket reporter. Ahmed made his first-class debut for Sind against Karachi Whites in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 1956–57, beginning a career that also saw him captain Hyderabad in the same competition in 1961–62.
He reported on more than 400 Test matches and was also the author of cricket books including Far More Than a Game and World Cricket.
