Piak Poster, the Thai filmmaker, film poster artist and actor known off screen as Somboonsuk Niyomsiri, died on September 24, 2026, aged 93.
Born in Chiang Mai in 1932, he began his career in 1953 as a poster artist and went on to create artwork for more than 1,000 Thai and foreign films. He later moved into directing, building a reputation for helping to launch or revive the careers of several actors, and his work on films such as Tone and Duang is among the best remembered.
In 2015, he was named a National Artist in the Performing Arts category.
