Patricia Clarke, an Australian writer and historian, died on March 12, 2026.
Born Mary Patricia Clarke in Alphington, Melbourne, on July 30, 1926, she was educated in Melbourne, later in Sale and at the University of Melbourne. She worked as a journalist with the Australian News and Information Bureau in Melbourne and Canberra, with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in the Press Gallery at Parliament House, Canberra, and as a journalist and editor for Maxwell Newton Publications.
She also served as Editor of Publications for the National Capital Development Commission and wrote extensively on 19th-century women in Australia.
