Hussein Bazzi, a Lebanese academic and professor at Lebanese University, died on March 12, 2026, when he was killed in an Israeli airstrike on campus.
He had served as director of the Faculty of Sciences from 2023. Bazzi was born in Bourj el-Barajneh, a suburb of Beirut, in 1987 or 1988.
He earned a PhD in Chemistry from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris and joined the Lebanese University faculty in 2013. He died alongside his colleague Mortada Srour, a Physics professor.
