Margareta Magnusson, a Swedish painter and essayist, died on March 12, 2026, in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the age of 91.
Born Margareta Elisabeth Bothén in Gothenburg on December 31, 1934, she studied at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm and graduated in 1956. She was best known for popularizing the term Swedish death cleaning, the practice of decluttering and giving away possessions to spare loved ones the task later in life.
