Nadir Nadirov, a Kazakh engineer and chemist, died on August 24, 2021.

Born on January 6, 1932, in Nakhchivan, then part of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, he was deported with his family to Kazakhstan in 1933. Nadirov served as president of the association of Kurds in Kazakhstan, known as Berbang, and as the first vice-president of the Engineering Academy of Kazakhstan.

He also directed the Neft scientific center and, in 1992, publicly described the mass deportations of Kurds in the Soviet Union during the 1930s and 1940s.
