Mahinda Wijesekara, a Sri Lankan politician and former minister of fisheries and member of Parliament, died on April 2, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born in Devinuwara, British Ceylon, on September 21, 1942, he served as a cabinet minister and was a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka for five terms, from 1989 to 2010. Wijesekera held the fisheries portfolio from 2001 to 2007.
