
Shozin Fukui, a Japanese film director and screenwriter, died on April 2, 2026, at the age of 64–65.
He was best known for his work in the cyberpunk genre and for the films “964 Pinocchio,” “Rubber’s Lover” and “S-94.” Born in 1961, Fukui worked for a video company while attending university, shooting live performances, and later made short films including “Chaser of the Ranger,” “Scourge of Blood” and “Metal Days.” His credits also included six experimental shorts and two feature films, “964 Pinocchio” and “Rubber’s Lover.”
