P. Unnikrishnan, an Indian politician and writer who served as a Union minister and parliamentarian for the Vatakara constituency, died on March 3, 2026.

He was 89. Born on September 20, 1936, in Coimbatore, then in Madras Presidency, British India, he was educated at Madras Christian College in Chennai and studied law there. Unnikrishnan was associated with the Socialist Party and the Praja Socialist Party in his youth before joining the Indian National Congress in the 1960s. He became a member of the All India Congress Committee in 1962 and also wrote articles for Mathrubhumi and other periodicals as a special correspondent.
