A member of the Christian alternative rock band during its rise in the 1990s and later years, Cary contributed to a group best known for the songs “Kiss Me,” “Breathe Your Name,” “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “There She Goes.” Sixpence None the Richer formed in New Braunfels, Texas, before settling in Nashville, Tennessee, and went on to receive two Grammy Award nominations, including recognition for “Kiss Me” and for its self-titled album. Cary’s death was attributed to a stroke.
