Born Juan de Dios Mataflorida Pueblos on March 8, 1943, in Loon, Bohol, in the Philippines, he studied at the Immaculate Heart Seminary in Tagbilaran and San Carlos Major Seminary before being ordained to the priesthood in 1968. He was consecrated as a bishop in 1985 and later served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Davao, bishop of the Diocese of Kidapawan and bishop of the Diocese of Butuan.
He died in San Juan, Metro Manila.
