Józef Michalik, Polish Roman Catholic prelate and archbishop of Przemyśl, died on May 3, 2026, at the age of 85.
He served as bishop of Zielona Góra–Gorzów from 1986 to 1993 and as archbishop of Przemyśl from 1993 to 2016. Michalik was also president of the Polish Episcopal Conference from 2004 to 2014.
Born in Zambrów on April 20, 1941, he was ordained a priest in 1964 and later received a doctorate in theology in Rome in 1972.
