Josefina Molina, the Spanish film director, screenwriter and television producer, died on May 30, 2026.
She was 89. Born in Córdoba, Spain, on November 14, 1936, Molina became one of the first female directors in Spain after beginning her career in 1966.
She worked across film and television, directing the feature films Función de noche and Esquilache and the television series Teresa de Jesús. Her work was recognized with distinctions including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts, the Gold Medal of Work Merit and the Honorary Goya Award.
