Jorge Urquía, a Honduran footballer who played for Mallorca, Alavés and the national team, died on May 14, 2026, at the age of 79.
Jorge Alberto Urquía Elvir, nicknamed Indio, played for Olimpia in Honduras and Mallorca in Spain during the 1970s. He began his career with Atlético Indio and later joined Olimpia, where he was part of the club’s golden generation in the early 1970s.
Urquía represented Honduras in the 1971 and 1981 CONCACAF Championships and scored for the national team in a 3–1 World Cup qualifying win over Jamaica in 1968.
