Paul Boutilier, a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins, died on May 14, 2026.

He was 63. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Boutilier was selected 21st overall by the New York Islanders in the 1981 NHL entry draft and was a member of the Islanders’ 1983 Stanley Cup championship team.

He played in the NHL during the 1980s after starring with the Sherbrooke Castors in the QMJHL, where he helped the club reach the 1982 Memorial Cup final and earned all-star honors.
