John Fitzgerald

John Fitzgerald, an American football player who played center for the Dallas Cowboys, died on April 14, 2026.

He was 77. Fitzgerald, born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, on April 16, 1948, played college football for the Boston College Eagles and was selected in the fourth round of the 1970 NFL draft.

At Southbridge High School, he started as a 315-pound fullback and also competed in the shot put. He later became a two-way tackle at Boston College, playing both offense and defense during his three-year varsity career.
