Javier López Marcano, a Spanish politician and member of the Parliament of Cantabria, died on April 2, 2026, of a heart attack.
He was 71. A member of the Regionalist Party of Cantabria, he served as mayor of Torrelavega from 1999 to 2003 and held three regional ministerial posts in the Government of Cantabria between 1995 and 2023.
He was a member of the Parliament of Cantabria from 2011 to 2015 and returned to the chamber in 2023.
