James Aren Duckett, an American convicted child murderer and sex offender, died on July 28, 2026, at age 68, after being executed by lethal injection in Florida.
Duckett was a former police officer with the Mascotte Police Department who was sentenced to death for the kidnapping, rape and murder of 11-year-old Teresa Mae McAbee on May 11, 1987. He was accused of abducting McAbee after encountering her while on patrol in Mascotte, Florida; her body was later found near a lake.
Duckett was also identified as a suspect in the unsolved killings of 14-year-old Jeanifer Shyan Weldon and 22-year-old Ronette Lynn Peterson. He was pronounced dead at 1:19 p.m.
