Ion Toderaș Moldovan ecologist and biologist, member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova dead at age 77

Ion Toderaș, a Moldovan ecologist and biologist and member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, died on May 4, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on August 17, 1948, in Logănești, he studied biology and pedagogy at Chisinau State University and later earned a doctorate at Odessa’s Mecinikov University, becoming a doctor of biology. He was known for research in ecology and zoology and for the development of the Apispir biostimulant.

From 1988 to 2006, he headed the Department of Zoology and Ecology, Human and Animal Biology at the Faculty of Biology and Pedagogy of the State University of the Republic of Moldova.
