Born in Istanbul on October 4, 1936, she studied philosophy at Istanbul University after attending Zappeion Parthenagogeio and went on to teach at Atatürk University and Hacettepe University. At Hacettepe, she founded and chaired the Department of Philosophy, later directing the university’s Centre for Research and Application of the Philosophy of Human Rights.
Kuçuradi also served as president of the Philosophical Society of Turkey, held a UNESCO Chair in Philosophy, and was associated with Maltepe University and Koç University. Her honors included the Goethe Medal, Germany’s Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Crete.
