Dževad Prekazi, a Serbian footballer and coach, died November 8, 2026, aged 69.

Born on August 18, 1957, in Mitrovica, he played as a midfielder and began his football development at local club Remont. He was registered with Remont’s youth team in early 1974, and later that year signed for Partizan, where he became part of a team that won the Yugoslav First League three times.

Those championship seasons were 1975–76, 1977–78 and 1982–83. Prekazi moved to Hajduk Split in the winter transfer window of 1984, joining another club in the Yugoslav First League. He spent about a year at the Split club, based at Poljud, and won the 1983–84 Yugoslav Cup. After leaving Hajduk, he moved to the United States and joined the Baltimore Blast, a club in the Major Indoor Soccer League. His career also included coaching at Železnik. Prekazi’s name is rendered differently across the languages associated with his biography: Џевад Прекази in Serbian Cyrillic, Xhevat Prekazi in Albanian and Cevat Prekazi in Turkish. His playing career thus connected clubs in Yugoslavia with a spell in American indoor soccer, alongside his work as a coach.
