Hamad Kalkaba Malboum dead at age 75, Cameroonian athletics official, president of the Confederation of African Athletics

Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, a Cameroonian athletics official and president of the Confederation of African Athletics, died on May 13, 2026.

He led the Confederation of African Athletics from 2003 until his death, succeeding Lamine Diack. Born on 11 November 1950 in Kawadji near Kousseri, Cameroon, he began his primary education in Kousseri, continued in Maroua, and later attended high school in Garoua.

He was drafted into the army in 1969, graduated from the military school in Yaoundé in 1972, and became an officer.
