Georgios Souflias, a Greek politician and former minister, died on June 5, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on July 7, 1941, in Ayia Triada, Larissa, he studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and later worked as an engineer in Larissa from 1966 to 1974. A member of New Democracy, he was elected to the Greek Parliament in successive elections from 1974 through 1996 and served as deputy minister for interior affairs from 1977 to 1980.
He later became minister for the environment, physical planning and public works in the Karamanlis government.
