
Geoff Vowden, the English footballer who played for Birmingham City, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, died on March 24, 2026.
Born Geoffrey Alan Vowden on 27 April 1941 in Barnsley, Yorkshire, he was raised in Jersey before moving to England at 18 to join Nottingham Forest. He signed professional forms there at Christmas 1959 and scored 40 goals in 90 League games for the club.
He later joined Birmingham City for £25,000 in October 1964, spent nearly seven seasons with the side, and finished as their leading scorer three seasons running from 1964-65 to 1966-67. In September 1968, he became the first substitute to score a hat-trick in a Football League fixture.
