Esteri Tebandeke, a Ugandan filmmaker, actress and visual artist, died on March 24, 2026.
Born Esther Brenda Apolot in Kampala on May 16, 1984, she was also a dancer and a graduate of the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Art at Makerere University. Tebandeke worked in film from 2008 to 2026 and appeared in Sins of the Parents, Master on Duty, and Queen of Katwe.
Her Broken Shadow, released in 2016, marked her first work in science fiction.
