Francesco Zani Italian rugby union player dead at age 87

Francesco Zani

Francesco Zani, an Italian rugby union player, died on April 5, 2026, at the age of 87.

Known as Francesco “Franco” Zani, he played as a lock and spent time with Fiamme Oro Rugby before joining SU Agen, where he played from 1961 to 1974. He was part of the SU Agen side that won the 1964–65 French Rugby Union Championship.

Zani also made 11 appearances for the Italian national team from 1960 to 1966.
