Born in Reconquista on April 14, 1946, Maglioni built his reputation at Club Atlético Independiente after joining the club in 1969, helping them to two league titles and three Copa Libertadores crowns. He made more than 150 appearances in all competitions and scored 60 goals for the Avellaneda side.

Maglioni also entered the record books on March 18, 1973, when he completed a hat-trick against Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata in less than 1 minute 51 seconds, the fastest recorded in Argentine football.
