Eddie Andelman, the American sports radio talk-show host whose voice became a fixture in Boston for more than four decades, died on June 15, 2026.
He was 89. Andelman built his career in sports talk radio beginning in 1969, first at WUNR and then at WBZ later that year, where his Sunday program Sports Huddle featured Jim McCarthy and Mark Witkin.
The show later moved to WEEI, and Andelman also hosted a television program on WNAC, now WHDH Channel 7, beginning in 1972. Born in Dorchester and raised in Brookline, he graduated from Brookline High School in 1954, earned degrees from Boston University and Northeastern University, and worked in his family’s real estate development business before entering broadcasting. His show was carried on more than 100 sports stations nationwide.
