Dory Chamoun, a Lebanese politician who led the National Liberal Party and served as a member of parliament from 2009 to 2018, died on September 14, 2026, aged 94.
Born in Deir el Qamar in 1931, he was the eldest son of former Lebanese president Camille Chamoun and a member of one of the country’s best-known political families. Chamoun headed the National Liberal Party from 1991 until 2021, when he was succeeded by his son, Camille Dory Chamoun.
He was also identified with the Qornet Shehwan Gathering, a coalition opposed to Syrian influence in Lebanon and the pro-Syrian March 8 Alliance.
