Christopher Haskins, the Irish-born businessman and life peer known as Baron Haskins, died on March 30, 2026, aged 88.
Born in Dublin on May 30, 1937, he was a member of the British House of Lords from 1998 to 2020. He attended St Columba’s College, Dublin, and Trinity College, Dublin, where he was known as a student radical and member of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
After graduating with an honours degree in modern history, he joined De La Rue before entering the family business, Northern Dairies, in 1962. He later turned the company into Northern Foods.
