Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor, the Nigerian army lieutenant general and United Nations force commander, died on May 27, 2026, at the age of 75.
A retired officer, he served until 2010 as Military Adviser and Assistant Secretary-General in the Office of Military Affairs at the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York, and had previously been the Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Liberia after his appointment by Secretary-General Kofi Annan in January 2006. Obiakor retired from the Nigerian Army in 2011.
Born on February 18, 1951, he was educated at the Nigerian Defence Academy and Government College, Umuahia.
