Jay Milder, an American painter, died on May 27, 2026, at 92.
A figurative expressionist associated with the second generation of the New York School, he developed a body of work shaped by themes from the Hebrew Bible and the mystical traditions of the Kabbalah. His paintings drew on archetypal imagery and were exhibited internationally, with works held by numerous museums.
Milder also received retrospective exhibitions in Brazil, including shows in Rio de Janeiro in 2006 and in Brasilia in 2007.
