Vladimir Matyukhin, a Russian general, died on May 27, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born in Moscow on February 4, 1945, he studied at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, graduating in 1968, and later completed additional education at Moscow State University. After working as an engineer at the Joint Design Bureau of his institute, he entered the KGB of the USSR in 1969 and served in its Eighth Main Directorate, which handled encryption, decryption and government communications.
His career was marked by a long tenure in Soviet and Russian security structures.
