Klaus Emmerich, a German film director and screenwriter known for The First Polka and Trokadero, died on May 27, 2026.
He was 82. Born in Freital on August 10, 1943, Emmerich began his career in 1971 and worked in film and television direction.
His 1979 film The First Polka was entered into the 29th Berlin International Film Festival, and his 1981 film Trokadero was entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival.
