Paul Dorpat, an American historian, died on May 27, 2026.
He was 87. Dorpat was an author and photographer who focused on the history of Seattle and Washington state.
He wrote a weekly “Now & Then” column for the Seattle Times from 1982 to 2019, pairing historical photographs of Seattle with present-day views. He was also the principal historian of HistoryLink.org, the online history resource for Washington state.
