Joe Schwarz, an American politician who served in the U.S.
House of Representatives from 2005 to 2007 and in the Michigan Senate from 1987 to 2002, died on May 27, 2026. He was 88.
Schwarz was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on November 15, 1937, and was also known as John J. H. Schwarz. A physician by training, he held public office in Michigan before serving one term in Congress as a moderate Republican.
