
Carlos Malcolm, a Jamaican trombonist, percussionist and bandleader, died on May 6, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born Carlos Antonio Malcolm in Colón, Panama, on November 10, 1934, to Jamaican parents, he grew up in Kingston. Malcolm worked in mento, ska, jazz and reggae, and was active from the late 1950s until 2026.
He helped cultivate Jamaican ska and reggae through his work as a musician and bandleader.
