Dick Hughes, an American baseball player, died on May 6, 2026, at age 88.

Born Richard Henry Hughes on February 13, 1938, he pitched in three seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball.

In his rookie season in 1967, he led the National League in WHIP and finished second to Tom Seaver in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. Hughes was born in Stephens, Arkansas, and moved with his family to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1946. He graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport in 1956 and pitched for its AAA state championship team.
