Byron Knutson, an American politician and former member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, died on December 6, 2025, at age 96.
A North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party member, he served in the state House from 1959 to 1962, as North Dakota Insurance Commissioner from 1977 to 1980, and as North Dakota Labor Commissioner from 1987 to 1990. Born near Harlow, North Dakota, on November 9, 1929, Knutson was raised in Harlow near Devis Lake and attended schools there before graduating from Benson County Agriculture and Training High School in Maddock, North Dakota.
He also attended North Dakota State University, the University of North Dakota and Valley City State College.
