Arvi Lind dead at age 85, Finnish television news presenter

Arvi Lind, the Finnish television news presenter best known for his long career with Yle TV1, died on June 7, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born Arvi Kullervo Lind in Lauritsala on December 21, 1940, he joined Yleisradio TV news as a reporter on October 15, 1965, and went on to serve as a news anchor on TV1 from 1965 to 2003. Lind was among the longest-serving employees in Yleisradio news, alongside Kari Toivonen.

His final broadcast aired on October 15, 2003, before he retired at the start of 2004, and the farewell program drew more than 1.6 million viewers.
