Alfredrick Hughes, an American basketball player who played for the San Antonio Spurs, died on May 1, 2026.
He was 63. Hughes was selected by the Spurs in the first round, 14th overall, of the 1985 NBA draft.
A Chicago native, he played college basketball at Loyola Chicago after graduating from Robeson High School. As a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, he became Loyola’s all-time leading scorer with 2,914 points. Hughes played one NBA season with San Antonio in 1985-86, appearing in 68 games and averaging 5.2 points per game.
