Verena Keller, the German operatic mezzosoprano, died on December 17, 2025.
Born in Schwerin on September 8, 1942, she was the daughter of the Swiss opera singer Jakob Keller. She studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and later taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main and the Peter Cornelius Conservatory.
Keller appeared at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera and the Opernhaus Düsseldorf. She received the 2002 Kulturförderpreis for her Opernwerkstatt and took part in the documentary Opernfieber by Katharina Rupp.
