Tony Currie, the Scottish broadcaster best known for his work as a television continuity announcer and radio presenter, died on September 26, 2026, aged 74, after tonsil cancer.
A British announcer by profession, he became the first voice heard on Radio Clyde when Scotland‘s first independent local radio station began broadcasting in 1973. He had started at KPFK Radio in Los Angeles in 1972 and later ran Radio Six International, which evolved from a 1963 enterprise into an internet station that syndicated programming to dozens of stations worldwide.
Currie also presented weekly programmes including Nothing But The Best and The Lively Lounge.
