Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano, the Italian energy distribution industry executive who served as chairman of Hera from 2002 to 2023, died on September 9, 2026, aged 79.
Born in Brescia in 1947, he earned a law degree before beginning his career in the personnel department at SIP, the former Società Idroelettrica Piemontese. He later became personnel director for the SIP Group in 1989 and went on to senior posts in Italy’s telecommunications sector, including chief executive of Iritel from 1992 to 1994, general manager of Telecom Italia from 1994 to 1997, and chief executive of STET, where he oversaw its merger with Telecom Italia.
He then became executive chairman of Hera Group at its creation in November 2002, remaining in the role until April 27, 2023.
