Born on September 11, 1942, in Harvey, Illinois, he grew up in the Chicago suburb and attended Thornton Township High School. Dreesen began his entertainment career after meeting Tim Reid in 1968, and together they formed Tim and Tom, widely recognized as the first biracial stand-up comedy duo in the United States.

After the act split in the mid-1970s, he went on to build a solo career that included appearances on “Match Game,” regular work on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” and touring as Frank Sinatra’s opening act. He also appeared in films including “Spaceballs,” “Man on the Moon,” and “Trouble with the Curve.”
