Born in Bangor, Northern Ireland, on September 26, 1938, he built a career as a rally navigator in the 1970s and went on to compete in 52 World Rally Championship events between 1978 and 1999. He was among the co-drivers for Malcolm Wilson, Tony Pond, Ari Vatanen, Michèle Mouton, Mark Lovell and Franco Cunico, the Italian driver who won three national titles.
Harryman’s work in the sport placed him alongside some of rallying’s leading names over more than two decades of competition.
