Born Theodore Edwin White on February 4, 1938, in Washington, D.C., he wrote and edited under the name Ted White and was a longtime figure in science fiction publishing and fandom. He co-authored novels with Dave Van Arnam under the pseudonym Ron Archer and with Terry Carr as Norman Edwards.
White began contributing to science fiction fanzines as a teenager, edited and published the fanzine Zip in 1953, and won a Hugo Award in 1968 for Best Fan Writer.
