Syamsir Siregar, an Indonesian military officer who served as Director of the State Intelligence Agency from 2004 to 2009, died on August 25, 2026, aged 84.
A graduate of the 1965 class of the Military Academy, he came from the Infantry-Kostrad branch and rose to the rank of major general in the Indonesian Army. His final military post was head of the ABRI Intelligence Agency.
Syamsir died at Adhyaksa Hospital in Cipayung, East Jakarta, and was buried at the National Heroes Cemetery in Kalibata.
