Born Seela Maini Marjatta Virtanen in Tampere on December 30, 1936, she built a career spanning more than six decades and appeared in nearly 35 film and television productions. Her screen work included collaborations with director Timo Koivusalo on films such as Sibelius and Kalteva torni, and she also provided Finnish voice work for animated features including A Bug’s Life and The Emperor’s New Groove.
